Exploring polarisation in Kankinara

While places like Asansol-Ranigunj is in popular focus as places where riots did take place. There are several other places as well where relatively smaller incidents and conflicts have taken places before, during and after the Ram Navami ralley 2018. AAMRA is trying to document them as well.

The aim is to study a comprehensive and holistic study of polarisation in West Bengal.

With increasing proliferation of identity based consolidations, AAMRA is getting more 'calls' to attend, more 'disruptions' to explore more 'disturbances' to cover and document. Now its Asansol-Ranigung. By May 30th, 2018 the death toll of the riot is 5. It is disturbing to note that increasingly 'invented traditions' are disrupting communal harmony of the state of West Bengal.

Aamra has been quick to mount on the study. First visit has been made on 8th April 2018 and we have visited again on 5th and 6th of May 2018. Documentations of narratives and exploration of grounded realities as well as popular perceptions are under process.

AAMRA hopes to bring out a comprehensive volume of the issues of Asansol-Ranigung as well as recent proliferations in other places.
